You are at the "Archaion Gastronomia"food concept, a culinary
approach, beyond the ordinary.
This is a different experience of authentic
culinary flavors from Greece, passing through the centuries, and on to our
days..
With " Archaion Gastronomia ", you can visit ancient
Greece through its gastronomy, through forgotten recipes based on the
ingredients of ancient time and having references or descriptions in ancient books and manuscripts.
Quite valuable and helpful, were the
archaeologists, historians, chefs, sommeliers, marketers, but even ordinary
people who kept from generation to generation valuable traditional recipes of
local cultures.
Our priority in "Archaion Gastronomia" is to introduce
to you "lost" recipes with healthy ingredients and cooking methods,
which were the ancestors of the Mediterranean food pyramid and kitchen of today
, such as wheat - olive oil - wine.
The basic recipes start from Ancient Greece
around 3000 bc reaching the Archestratus 330 bc until the 1st century bc and
the extravagant meals of Luculus, after Tiberius in the 1st century ad and Apicius, in 400ad, but also recipes from
the ad era, which arrived to the kitchens of our grandmothers, with materials
available in those historical times, but
also with various cultural influences.
The Greeks created the philosophical basis of
"good living", the Epicurean philosophy, according to which, main aim
of life is pleasure, though not implying
a good time, as we refer to it today, but the interest in quality food.
Approximately until 1400ad, we will not read
about tomatoes, potatoes, rice, eggplant, carrots, spaghetti ...but instead,
oatmeal, fruit, green vegetables,bulbs , meat, wild prey , fish and seafood in
general, with many sauces, herbs, spices, different kinds of bread and plenty
of ' watered wine "and for the adventurous" straight wine".
The “oenomelo” (sweet honeyes wine) will
welcome you, as close as possible to the opening rituals of the ancient
banquet, wine with honey and rosewater.
We aspire the "Archaion Gastronomia" to become a
culinary journey through the ages, presenting new flavors every time to delight
your palate and according to Epicurus ... the "pleasure of your hull '
